Known for enthusiastic crowds and one of the largest selections of whisky ever gathered for a festival, it began in 2002 and now welcomes 5,000 fans. There's something here for everyone, from whisky beginner to devout collector. This is probably the major whisky festival on any aficionado’s calendar. Every exhibitor that comes through, featuring mostly Scotch and American whiskies, brings the best liquid they’ve got. Also notable: With just a few hundred tickets available, unlike some festivals, attendees don’t end up crushed in large whisky-guzzling crowds.Ī luxury whisky experience lasting for four days in Las Vegas, the Nth is one of the most luxurious whisky experiences on the calendar - especially if you pay for the "high roller" $3,000 ticket - and allows attendees to get close and personal with luminaries in the industry. Independent collectors and larger brands alike display wares you won’t find anywhere else, and it's a must-attend event for anyone who takes whisky collecting seriously. Organised in Glasgow by online whisky retailer The Whisky Exchange, legendary bottles spanning 100 years of whisky making are available to try here. Beyond this, however, the festival features top level whiskies and masterclasses, and serves as a focal point for the latest revival of Canadian whiskies from large and smaller independent operations alike now gaining momentum.
This year’s Victoria Whisky Festival occurred just as Canadian officials were conducting prohibition-style raids, confiscating whisky bottles in bars in Vancouver and Victoria.
Victoria Whisky Festival (January 17 th - 19 th 2019). Organized by one of Norway’s whisky luminaries, Chris Maile, this year’s festival saw a special emphasis placed on new distilleries springing up in the region and producing various interesting spirits including, of course, whisky. To my knowledge, this whisky festival in the Norwegian city of Tromsø, which tends to focus on whisky from around the world, is the northernmost of its kind. Arctic Whisky Festival (January 12 th, 2019).
(You'll also find gin and rum on hand.) The festival is set in Hampden Park, one of Scotland’s most iconic soccer stadiums, further cementing the Glasgow connection. Organized by local Glasgwegians deeply involved in the industry, Glasgow’s Whisky Festival places emphasis on distilleries and companies located in or near the city, as well as independent brands doing new and unusual things with whisky.

The Feis Ile on Islay, off the west coast of Scotland, runs for just over a week, with each of Islay’s eight magnificent distilleries - joined by the Jura distillery on the neighbouring island of the same name - hosting an open day filled with whisky, music and merriment.
